Entitlement

Athletes are entitled to RESPECT, care, the truth, and a coaches' best effort. After that, entitlements should end. Success will only be measured by the effort and commitment to being your best on and off the court.

What you can expect:
  • You can expect coaches to try to encourage you through all aspects of volleyball.
  • You can expect coaches to be honest with you about your abilities or things to improve on.
  • You can expect coaches to indicate when something is done incorrectly, explain how to do it correctly, allow you time to adjust, and encourage you while you make the adjustment.
  • You can expect coaches to try to push you to your limits.
  • You can expect coaches to give you a hand when you don't think you can quite make it.
  • You can expect coaches not to yell at you in anger or disgust.
  • You can expect coaches to expect that you will make mistakes and that they are ok.
  • You can expect coaches to make mistakes and own up to those mistakes.

What Coaches would expect from you:
  • Coaches would expect respect from you - for myself-our team-our parents-and our opponents.
  • Coaches would expect you to never give up on yourself or your team.
  • Coaches would expect you to always give 100% of what you are able to give.

  • Coaches would expect you to expect that you will make mistakes and that they are ok.
  • Coaches would expect you to remain positive with yourself and your teammates.
  • Coaches would expect you to ask for help when you need a hand. Asking for help is a sign of strength of character...not a sign of weakness.

  • Coaches would expect that you try to make adjustments when something is done incorrectly.
  • Coaches would expect you to be honest about your abilities/injuries/ or things you don't feel comfortable with.
