BC Youth Volleyball was formed to provide youth with an opportunity and options to learn and compete in the sport of volleyball.

BC Youth Volleyball will focus primarily on individual development and team concepts. Success will not be determined by championships and trophies. Instead, success will be achieved if players & teams show improvement over time.

Our coaching staff and administrators are volunteers, each with full-time jobs. We do not maintain BC Youth Volleyball for a paycheck. We are dedicated to developing athletes, not only in the sport of volleyball but as young adults also. We strive to develop each athlete to their potential and to expose them to the best competition possible while maintaining fiscal responsibility. Besides the learning experience and improvement we hope each athlete receives, we hope each one has fun as they participate.

I. Objectives

  • To develop each athlete to their own optimum potential.
  • To provide a medium for athletes to excel.
  • To expose athletes, within their own ability level, to the best competition possible.
  • To provide a balanced program in which volleyball plays a role in the growth and development of the individual participant as a person and an athlete.

II. How selection to participate in the club program will be met

  • Selection to teams will be accomplished through an “open tryout” format.
  • Coaches will form teams based on attitude, athletic ability, volleyball skills, and potential development.

III. How objectives of program will be met

  • Once selected, athletes will be given every opportunity possible to develop their volleyball skills.
  • The opportunities provided: Weekly practices.
  • Tournament play.
  • Individual instruction.
  • Team instruction.
  • Goal development: both individual and team-oriented.
  • Teamwork.
  • Physical conditioning.
  • Mental conditioning.
  • Social interaction.

Practices generally start in January and run through May (except for elite programs which run through the first week of July). The coaches will confirm the first practice with you as well as the official times and dates. They will also notify you of any changes or additions during the season as well as any extra scrimmages against another club.
